New homes could be constructed by 2029

OVER 800 homes need to be built in the upper Calder Valley by 2029, according to latest estimates.

Todmorden could see the biggest building boom, with 630 needed, followed by Luddenden Foot, 84, Mytholmroyd, 63, and Hebden Bridge, 32.

In total, Calderdale needs a total of around 10,500 new homes, of which the upper Calder Valley accounts for 809.

The figures come from a new Local Plan, which Calderdale Council hopes to adopt, and the document was cleared for public consultation at a cabinet meeting last week.

Consultation on the plans for the entire district runs until the end of December.
