A man has admitted killing a sex offender who went missing from Dewsbury last year.
David Mitchell, of Manchester Road, Cowlersley, Huddersfield, pleaded guilty to the murder of Robert Hind at Leeds Crown Court today (Monday).
Hind – also known as Robert Dack – used to live in the Hebden Bridge area.
The convicted paedophile, 46, disappeared from a Dewsbury address in December, sparking a police manhunt.
He was spotted on CCTV footage in Huddersfield with a man later identified as Mitchell.
Officers arrested Mitchell, 46, after human remains were found in a canal in Milnsbridge, Huddersfield, by police divers.
A post mortem examination found Hind had died as the result of strangulation and head injuries.
Mitchell will be sentenced at a later date.
