Motorists in the Calder Valley are set to face disruption when a major through road is closed for five days.

New Road in Mytholmroyd, which links the village the village to Cragg Vale, is set to be closed overnight - from 6pm until 11pm - starting on Monday, May 19. The works, which are being carried out by Calderdale Council contractor Amey, are expected to be finished by Friday, May 23.

The closure will be in place between junctions with Burnley Road and Scout Road.

Residents and businesses have been notified of the works and a diversion route will be signed via B6138 Cragg Vale, Blackstone Edge Road, Turvin Road and the A58 via Sowerby Bridge.

Motorists are also reminded that the nearby Scout Road is also closed while works are carried out to repair damage caused by subsidence.

Calderdale Council’s Head of Planning and Highways, Geoff Willerton, said: “The evening closures are needed to ensure that these essential works can be completed, reducing the need for future maintenance. We will do all that we can to minimise disruption to road users, residents and businesses in the area while the maintenance is carried out, and thank people in advance for their patience.”

For more information, contact Amey on 01422 392910 (during office hours) or 08453 651383 (out of office hours).
