LUDDENDEN will get the chance to show its bloomin talent after being selected to represent Yorkshire in a prestigious national horticultural competition.

The village in the Calder Valley has been selected from more than 1,000 entrants to take part in the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom UK Finals 2013.

Luddenden, which is competing for best Village, was selected for “outstanding commitment to environmental responsibility, community participation and gardening achievement”.

Judging for the event takes place in July and August.

Andrea Van Sittart, Head of Regional Development at RHS, said: “On behalf of the RHS, I’d like to wish every volunteer from Luddenden the very best of luck in this year’s UK Finals and look forward to celebrating with you all in October.”
