A landlord has put up a £1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of a man who stole £2,800 in cash from his pub.

Sean Garvey, who runs the Dirty Dicks pub on Clare Road, Halifax, was in the cellar at the time of the theft between 5pm and 7.15pm on Thursday, April 3.

And in an attempt to get justice, as well as showing thieves that businesses in the area won’t be walked over, Mr Garvey is now offering the substantial award.

Mr Garvey, who also owns two pubs in Bradford, said: “I don’t have any bad feelings against the thief.

“At the end of the day a thief is a thief.

“But as a businessman you have to stand your ground. And if you do steal from us then we’ll do everything possible to make sure you don’t get away with it - even if it means putting a reward on your head.”

Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which happened when the pub was open.

The thief entered the pub and managed to get through an internal door to go upstairs.

Once inside, he found keys to the pubs safe, gained access, and then left the building with the large quantity of cash.

PC Krissy Cattlow, of Halifax Police, said: “Officers have been investigating this incident and would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man pictured, who we would like to speak to in connection with the offence.

“Anyone who recognises him or has information should contact myself at Halifax Police on 101 referencing crime number 13140134744.

“Information can also be passed to CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
