A national newspaper survey has named Hebden Bridge as the coolest place to live in Britain.

The report published today (Tuesday) in The Times cites the town’s music scene, artists, New Agers and gay-friendly nature as the reasons why Hebden Bridge has topped the poll of coolest places to live.

The Trades Club is highlighted as a particular attraction in a town described as home to “creative types and those with a hippy streak”.

The news has been welcomed by people in the town, with many saying it’s a great advert for the upper Calder Valley.
