As Christmas approaches pupils, teachers and parents from Cragg Vale J and I School turned into Santa Claus and gave generously to support the Rotary Shoebox Scheme.

The donations of toys, toiletries, educational items and household goods will be sealed and sent to Eastern Europe to help less fortunate children.

Hebden Bridge Rotary Club President Brian Boocock said: “It was a fantastic effort by everyone involved and I thank them for taking the time to bring a little happiness to people less fortunate than themselves. For some children, the boxes will be the only present they received at Christmas.”

The club has collected 400 boxes from individuals and schools, including Cragg Vale, Scout Road and Calder High (Mytholmroyd) and Hebden Royd (Hebden Bridge).
