Ticket sales are hotting up as the community gets involved to help make Hebden Bridge Rotary Club’s 15th Duck Race its biggest success yet.
The event, being held on Hebden Water in Hebden Bridge town centre on Easter Monday, April 21 (3.15pm).
Tickets for the Duck Race cost £1 each and are now available from over 30 shops and pubs in the town, displaying brightly coloured Duckumentary posters, and from Hebden Bridge Tourist Information Centre.
Ian Lindsay, of the club, added: “There will be ducktastic cash prizes for the first four lucky ducks to paddle across the finish line, £300 for the winner, then £200, £100 and £50 respectively.”
Tickets, and other duck related gifts, will also be on sale from the Rotary stall in St George’s Square from 10am to 4pm on April 12, 13, 17, 18, 19 and 20, and also from 10am to 3pm on Race Day.
This year, for the first time, the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge are also be selling a limited number of tickets on-line at www.hebdenbridgerotary.org.uk.
Due to the increasing success of this annual event, additional car parking has been kindly loaned by the owners of Walkley’s Clog factory and directions will be well signposted on the day, said Ian.
Following the success of last year’s Decorated Duck competition, local primary schools, nurseries & play groups were invited to submit entries for the 2014 competition.
In all, 21 schools have taken part and their fabulous creations are currently on display in local shopfronts in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd.

The vibrant local business community also continues to support the event and Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge have again organised a Local Business Sponsored Duck Race, which is held just before the main event - with the winning red, green or blue ducks giving their business owner the kudos of displaying winner’s trophies & plaques for the rest of the year.
