MEN in uniform will become men in tuxedos for one night only at a charity fashion show and auction.

Overgate Hospice has organised the event at Todmorden Town Hall on Friday October 26, which will see firefighters dressed in tuxedos escort models down the catwalk while a DJ spins some tunes.

The team of models will include local businesspeople as they step out from behind their desks to strut their stuff for a good cause.

All money raised will go to Overgate Hospice, which has charity shops in Todmorden and Hebden Bridge.

Dee Johnston, manager of the Todmorden shop and one of the event organisers, said it should be a really good night.

“It will be a fashion show with a difference,” she said.

“The firemen will be wearing tuxedos and escorting our ladies down the catwalk.

“They are up for anything, which is brilliant.

“They are doing this in their free time and coming along for practice runs.”

The event has received support from local businesses, some of whom will be helping out with the models’ hair and make-up.

In addition to the fashion show, there will also be an auction featuring a wide range of items.

So far, a total of 28 lots have been confirmed and will be up for grabs on the night.

Photos of all the items will be on display in the window of the Overgate Hospice shop in Todmorden.

There will also be a number of stalls and the firefighters will be selling copies of their 2013 charity calendar titled Red Hot Dates.

Dee said: “This is our first ever fashion show in Todmorden.

“All the items that the models will be wearing have been donated to the shop.

“I just can’t believe how supportive people have been.

“Hopefully if it’s a success, it will become an annual event.”

Doors will open at the town hall at 6pm, with the fashion show starting at 7pm.

Tickets priced £5 are available from the Overgate Hospice shops in Todmorden and Hebden Bridge.
