Elaine and Helen ease holiday concerns
Hebden Bridge and Todmorden-based travel agents Elaine Simpson and Helen Walker are offering help and advice to customers concerned about the recent news of the Thomas Cook closures.
The company plans to close 195 stores across the UK which will result in a cut of 2,500 jobs across its back office and retail network.
Elaine said: “There is no doubt that the current economic climate is having an effect on businesses across the country that have not changed with the times.
“It is terrible news that so many experienced travel agents will be losing their jobs. What’s important is that customers do not feel alienated by the latest news and instead are aware that the travel industry is changing and moving away from the high street.”
Elaine and Helen run their own travel businesses from home as franchisees of leading independent travel company Travel Counsellors and have seen their businesses go from strength to strength. Helen said: “As I operate from home, I am available at a time to suit my customers.”
