POLICE were left to clear up the mess after a landslide in Mytholmroyd on Thursday, December 27.
The incident, which happened at around 12.40pm on Hall Bank Lane, is believed to have been caused by heavy rain uprooting a tree.
A resident said: “I don’t know quite how it happened. My suspicion is the ground above the wall and surrounding the tree will have been waterlogged for a long time. Very heavy rain will have caused the slide when the roots of the tree were uprooted and as it fell it brought down the wall.”
