LAST-minute details are being finalised for the Hebden Bridge Creative Auction which takes place on Friday.

A total of 96 lots have now been donated from many local creatives as well as others across the country making up a stunning range of work, including paintings, photography, jewellery, ceramics and much more. All will go under the hammer, with no reserve, in the auction which takes place in the Waterfront Hall of the new Town Hall building, Hebden Bridge.

The auction starts at 7pm (viewing starts at 6pm) and all proceeds will help to fund a series of Pop Up Hebden events taking place to promote the town in the build up to Christmas. This is vital to bring new life back to the town following the devastating floods and to put across the message that Hebden Bridge is very much alive and kicking and open for business.

Donations include a print by BBC Wildlife artist of the year 2011, Stella Mays; a framed limited edition Hebden Sunset print by Hebden Bridge based photographer Nigel Hillier; and AC Gallery, Huddersfield, has donated a Peter Brook Bronte landscape print. Due to the wide range of donations it’s guaranteed that there is something to suit every budget.

Amy Leader, speaking for the Hebden Bridge Community Association who are hosting the event, said: “The auction has brought together not only traders in the town, but also the creative community that benefits from the independent outlets that Hebden Bridge does so well. We are feeling very positive about the auction and we are sure this will help us breathe new life into the town to show that we are very much open for business.”

Alison Bartram, proprietor at Heart Gallery in Hebden Bridge, has been heavily involved with the organisation of this creative auction and is overwhelmed at the response to what initially began as a “tweet” from one of her concerned artists. Alison, whose gallery in Market Street is celebrating its sixth birthday this month, said: “The standard of work received from artists is really high and as there is no reserve on any of the kind donations there will be some great bargains to be bagged.”
