Childhood story of famous son

A PLAY which tells the childhood story of one of the Calder Valley's most famous sons, is being premiered in Mytholmroyd next month.

The play, called Dreaming of Foxes, is based on the early life of poet Ted Hughes who grew up in Mytholmroyd.

It has been written by local playwright Aelish Michael, for the 10th anniversary of the former poet laureate's death, and will include star performances by local children. The play is being shown as part of the Ted Hughes festival which runs between October 22 to October 28 and will see famous poets, musicians and artists descend on the village.

Dreaming of Foxes is being performed at the Ted Hughes Theatre, Calder High School, Brier Hey Lane, on Friday October 24 at 6.15pm and Saturday October 25 and Sunday October 26 at 3.15pm and 6.15pm.
