Calendar boys strip off for the cause...

FIRE FIGHTERS in the upper Calder Valley have taken their kit off all in the name of charity.

Luke Cannon and Andrew Ball, who are based at Mytholmroyd, are “Mr July” and “Mr October” in West Yorkshire Fire Service’s Red Hot Dates charity calendar.

Pictures for the calendar were shot at various locations in the region and all proceeds will go to The Fire Fighters Charity (TFFC), the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Laila Milly’s Wish.

Andrew, who is Mytholmroyd Fire Station’s representative for TFFC, said: “A lot of hard work has gone into organising the calendar to get it put together, produced and printed.

“The first task was finding sponsors and fundraising to cover the printing costs, then it was a case of getting the calendar ideas together and compiling them.

“The effort will now all be about selling the 5,000 plus copies that have been printed over the next few months, up until the end of the year. Hopefully we can be successful in achieving the target of £25,000 and the profits go to three great causes.”

The calendars are priced at £5 and will be available from the fire station on Burnley Road, Mytholmroyd Community Centre and local businesses supporting the campaign.

Between 2004 and 2007, the calendar raised over £60,000 for various charities.

The calendar boys will be making personal appearances. To find out when and where follow@RedHotDates on Twitter or visit www.facebook.com/pages/Red-Hot-Dates-2013/456699244362400.
