Members of Hebden Bridge Brass Band said competing in the National Brass Band Championships was a “tremendous experience” despite a disappointing result.
The band’s interpretation of the set piece did not impress the adjudicator and resulted in a 13th place finish in the showpiece event in Cheltenham last weekend.
Steve Gardner, of the band, said: “We were disappointed with the result but it was a great thing to be part of.
“A lot of people said how well have been playing.
“We will use this experience to improve our playing and look forward.”
The band will still take its place in the championship section next year.
