Five young “apprentices” aged between eight and 11 raised £265 by selling sweets at Heptonstall Festival.
They secured funding for their stall, opened a trade account to buy the sweets, set their selling prices and developed a complex and successful sales strategy which allowed them to generate cash which will go towards next year’s festival.
Eleven-year-olds Josie Paramor and Lily Cavey, 10-year-olds Jessica Paine and Caitlin Paramor and eight-year-old Ella Cavey developed a business plan, undertook a marketing campaign with posters and advertising and worked throughout the day and into the early evening, ably assisted by members of staff.
