With a new date and an enhanced day out in store, entries and stallholders both are being sought for this year’s Dock Pudding World Championship at Mytholmroyd Community Centre.
This year’s event is on Easter Sunday (April 20) and as well as incorporating the famous competition to see who can cook up the Calder Valley’s traditional delicacy, using only the tenderest of dock leaves with other ingredients of a cook’s choice, a new Mytholmroyd Food and Drink Festival will run alongside it.
There will also be the outdoor car boot sale which has been a regular part of the competition.
“Budding cooks need to supply their own ingredients, including the dock plants, and we also have room for more stallholders for the food and drink festival, so if you would like to take part don’t hesitate to book,” said Debbie Robinson, of the community centre.
The car boot sale will run from 7am, the festival stalls from 8am to 5pm and the competition itself will be staged around 1.30pm.
To book your entry or your stall, contact Debbie, Julie Wilby or Sarah Wilby on 01422 883023. It should make a great family day out, say the organisers. In the meantime, cooks, get perfecting those dock pud recipes - there is the Halifax Courier Cup and a cash prize to be won!
