A fantastic afternoon was had by all at the Wadsworth Festival on Saturday.

The day began with children from Midgley Primary School and Old Town Primary School cycling to the festival in a three-mile sponsored cycle parade, accompanied by adults, and even a unicyclist.

Some of the children learnt to ride bikes especially for the event.

Kate Drury, a school governor at Old Town Primary School, said: “The parade went really well, all the kids were really determined to do it and the atmosphere was great.”

Following the cycle parade, Old Town Green hosted an an action-packed afternoon of games, activities, demonstrations as well as stalls and live music performances.

Also on sale was a 2015 Calendar created by ‘Picture This!’ the Wadsworth camera club. They ran an internal competition within the group where the best photos were given a month each.

Kate added: “All the performances were fantastic, everyone had really put themselves out.

“It was still really busy until the end and everyone is talking about next year now.”

More than £3,500 was raised and will be put towards the Old Town School Garden Project, Friends of Old Town School, Midgley Primary School, Midgley Community Forum and the Wadsworth Community Association.
