Now spring is here it’s time to start flexing those legs and limbering up ahead of a great Todmorden tradition!
Entry forms are now available for the 32nd Todmorden Boundary Walk, organised by the Rotary Club of Todmorden for Sunday, May 4, with the starting and finishing point again at Bellholme Sports Ground, Rochdale Road, Walsden.
As well as the full, 22-mile, walk there will be the option of tackling the shorter 12-mile Pike Hike and once again Rotary have chosen a charity to benefit from money raised from the event - this year the main charity to benefit from proceeds raised will be the Alzheimer’s Society.
Entries are already coming in from walkers both locally and further afield.
This year Boundary Walk chairman for the last few years Paul Hughes is taking a step back from his role with Ian Bantham and Martin Butler picking up the reins.
Helping run the event will be organisations including Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team and Raynet, as well as sports clubs Todmorden Borough and Bridgeholme CC, whose grounds are key contact points.
Once again Todmorden-based company Weir Minerals are paying the entry fee for staff members wanting to take part.
The entry fee for 2014’s Boundary Walk is £10 per person, £7 for those under 16 years of age. Fees for the Pike Hike are £8 and £6 respectively. A surcharge of £2 per person will be applied for all entries received on the day of the walk itself.
Entry forms are available at Todmorden Tourist Information Centre and Margaret’s China Shop, both on Burnley Road, Todmorden, or can be downloaded from the Todmorden Rotary Club website at www.todrotary.org.
