My area in mind at turn of the year...

It’s that time again: resolutions and hopes for the New Year.

Yes, I want to lose some weight and get fitter, etc. Demands of work, parenting, family commitments, for example, can reduce our capacity for achieving personal change.

What about our neighbourhood, our local community?

Can I, can we, find time for what’s important and valuable to us where we live?

I’m getting fed up with litter and a lack of care for our local environment – Jade and Callum doing their bit to tidy up Mytholmroyd Memorial Gardens, thank you for your example!

I pledge that from January to the end March 2014 I will: work for at least an hour a month on communal facilities at Red Acre Community Allotments; plant trees with Treesponsibility for at least four hours; keep an eye on Mytholmroyd Memorial Gardens and challenge any anti-social behaviour I witness.

So, come on good residents of Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge and valley areas, what are you going to do for your community this year?
