A bumper sum was raised by a Calder Valley resident who completed the Midnight Walk for Overgate Hospice recently.
Jane Kennedy, of Hebden Bridge, completed the 13-mile walk in September, raising £590. Jane, who is 52, has now topped it up to £600 herself.
Although she was a little footsore after the trek, which started and ended at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax, after completing the walk it wasn’t long before Jane went to her grandson’s fifth birthday party.
Jane said: “I’d like to thank everyone who helped me raise that total, including people at work and at the Hebden Bridge Sports and Social Club, and all at the hospice for the work that they do caring for people and their families.
“The walk took us out to Greetland and took in Ripponden and Sowerby, on to Pye Nest and back to Halifax.
“I just wanted to take part and I have had friends who have had cancer and been cared for by Overgate. I don’t really do walking and finished at around 4.30am - we all got a big hug from the lady at the hospice and cars were passing us an egging us on.
“I am diabetic so I made sure I kept up my blood sugar level. I enjoyed it and will probably do it again next year,” she said.
