Get your litter bags at the ready - it’s time to give the area a spring clean!
Once again, Hebden Royd Town Council is sponsoring local community groups to clean up neglected corners of the Parish over its annual ‘Spring Clean Weekend’ on March 21 and 22.
Last year groups grabbed the opportunity with both hands - usually gloved, and with litter pickers at the ready.
And this year efforts were being redoubled, with another high profile local group already pencilled in, said a spokesperson
“We are very glad to have the support of Calder Valley Search and Rescue, who will be tackling those hard to reach places that other litter pickers just can’t reach, so if you’ve spotted somewhere that you think might benefit from their clambering, climbing and cleaning skills then let us know.
“Alternatively, find somewhere you think you could clean up, get some friends to join in and help, and nominate your favourite charity to receive £60.”
Teams of six people can earn £60 for their community group or charity of their choice by giving up to two hours of their time to do a litter pick in an area in the Parish. If you would like to enter a team – each organisation can enter a maximum of three teams – then please contact the Town Council on firstname.lastname@example.org or drop into the Town Hall and pick up an application form.
“We will provide you with litter pickers, gloves and bin bags, and arrange for the rubbish to be collected,” said the spokesperson.
