Preparations for the 2014 Mytholmroyd Gala are on the right track, with a 20 square metre screen booked for people to watch the Tour de France pass through the Calder Valley.
The two-day event will be held on Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, and a host of top names are set to perform.
Gala chairman George Sumner said: “As it’s such a big event we need the community to really rally around and make it a weekend to remember. All the money raised is going to the local community. We want to create a legacy from the event. We’re keen to hear from businesses and individuals who wish to participate - whether that’s providing equipment or services, hosting a stall, being advertised on the giant TV screen or programme, or making a donation.”
Acts already confirmed to perform include Dene Michael from Black Lace, Hank Muldoon and the Muldoon Brothers, Bonnie from X-Factor, Craig Harper from Britain’s Got Talent, Lee Lord, Lee Roberts, Tracy Goodwin, Melisa Radway, Katie Star from X-Factor, with more singers entertainers and comedians to be confirmed.
Sharing the stage will be entrants to the first ever M-Factor, where the winner will get a record deal. Entry is £10.
The organisers are also keen to hear from potential gala queens to lead the parade on the Saturday as it makes it way on to Burnley Road Playing Fields. On the field will be a fairground, stalls, a beer tent - featuring beers from Little Valley Brewery and The Crown Inn - two giant TV screens and more. The Grand Depart can also be watched from a grand stand located on the near end of the field.
Tickets are £3 adults (£1.50 children) on the Saturday and £5 adults (£3 children) on the Sunday. For more information or to apply to run a stall, sponsor the vent, volunteer, be the queen or for M-Factor, visit www.facebook.com/MytholmroydGala or email email@example.com
