Dodnaze Community Centre was the host for a fantastic event on Monday.

The event was provided free by Calderdale Council Bikeability, and the session was run by trainers Janet Armitage and Tony Simmonds.

Twelve of our local children participated on a L1 skills bike course on the field above the estate, learning skills such as basic maintenance, safety and gaining confidence and skills through riding. They all received a booklet and certificate at the end of the course. Alongside this Cycle Recycle - Alternative Technology Centre the big bike revival provided information, questionnaires to fill out and free bike lights.

Centre Development Worker Josie McCarthy said: “The day was a tremendous success with everyone learning and taking home with them valuable skills and knowledge. in a fun environmental setting.

“The importance of teaching our youngsters road safety, and awareness from an early age is really so very important these days with our increasingly busy roads.”
