This generous amount was part of a £930.00 collection raised at the funeral of Michael Boyle of Elland, who sadly died on 8 September 2016, aged 73.

Whilst at the base, the whole family enjoyed a light-hearted evening learning more about the work of the Search and Rescue Team and what they do to help the community and other emergency services.

Michael’s family said, “Over the years, he had enjoyed walking the Pennine Way and most of the footpaths and bridleways in and around Calderdale.

“Fortunately Michael never required the assistance of the rescue services but always recognised their invaluable work.

“He would have been happy knowing the donations made at his funeral were going to such worthy causes.”

The Search and Rescue team are also celebrating winning a bronze medal in the International Category of Dolomites Rescue Race 2016 in Italy.
