Fashion fabrics, original ceramic buttons and vintage haberdashery will be filling Hebden Bridge Town Hall with colour on Sunday.
Hebden Bridge WI’s Awesome Autumn Rag Market will see the venue’s Waterfront Hall brimming with items for the keen crafter and for those hoping to learn more about the art.
The market will be open from 11am to 4pm and admission is £1.
Vanessa Kay, who has organised the event with Sue Mellis, Sue Leslie and WI treasurer Katie Ashwood, said: “Following on from the fabulous ‘Festival of Making and Doing’ and the ‘Meet the Makers’ market, the rag market is the perfect place for you to source and buy materials and art and craft products for you to start your crafting hobbies.
“There will be lots of fabulous textiles, buttons, yarns, art materials and vintage haberdashery at bargain prices.
“Some of the materials on sale are from private hoards, so you are sure to find something unique as you scour the stalls for crafting treasure.
“We will also be selling cakes, jams and preserves on the WI produce stall.”
Art and craft suppliers Word of Mouth, based in Hangingroyd Lane, will also have a presence at the rag market, as will Muffin Ceramics, with original ceramic buttons by Margaret Brown of Bolton.
Vanessa said another stallholder was taking vintage items that had belonged to her grandmother, who ran a lingerie shop between the wars. She added: “A lot of people who do come to sell end up going home with as much as they came with!
“With Christmas coming up it is a perfect time to think about crafting and because prices are so cheap it is also perfect for children.”
