Residents are being given the chance to spruce up their neighbourhood while doing something good for charity.

The annual Hebden Royd Big Spring Clean returns on the weekend of March 29 and 30 and for every group of six residents who pick up a broom and slip on some gloves the town council will give £60 to a charity of their choice.

Coun Richard Yorke, chairman of the environment and allotment committee, said: “Our annual spring clean up is an important event in our calendar.

“It gives community groups the opportunity to raise some much needed funds for their organisations and at the same time improves the environment of the area for the benefit of all.”

For information on how to get involved, contact neighbourhood manager Emma Green on 01422 842181 or at emma@hebdenroyd.org.uk.
