CALDERDALE Council is introducing double yellow lines on the approach to the ancient Packhorse Bridge in the centre of Hebden Bridge.
The council is taking action to prevent obstructive parking that is currently causing a problem in that part of the town.

Nigel Pickles, Calderdale Council's Network Manager, said: ""We are aware of the special status of the Packhorse Bridge and will ensure that the legally required markings are as sympathetic to the local setting as possible.

"The double yellow lines will be put on the approach to the bridge to make parking restrictions clearer to members of the public. The final markings will not be on the bridge itself."

Mr Pickles added: "As part of early investigations temporary markings were drawn on the bridge two weeks ago, however this was simply part of the planning stage and the markings do not represent where the permanent double lines will run up to."
