LOCAL Calderdale councillor Janet Battye has welcomed the decision of the Planning Inspector to dismiss an appeal against planning permission to build three houses at the end of Stubbing Holme Road, Hebden Bridge, on the grounds that it would cause too great an increase in the amount of traffic on the substandard road.
"It is good that the views of local people were listened to: they made the case very well and the Inspector agreed with them," she said.

"But the Inspector said that it is a brownfield site, refuted the concerns about the risk of flooding and wouldn't comment on their wishes that the site be kept as an open space. We will have to see what happens next," said Coun Battye.
