Surprise golden wedding party for Luddenden couple

A LUDDENDEN couple Donald and Joyce Addison have celebrated 50 years of married life.
The couple, of Brook Terrace, enjoyed a surprise garden party organised by their two daughters to mark their golden wedding.

Mr Addison, 74, and Mrs Addison, 72, met at an open day at Castle Carr Estate, Wainstalls, on Whit Monday, 1954.

Mrs Addison lived in Wainstalls and Mr Addison was from Luddenden.

They were married on June 13, 1959, at Luddenden Dene Chapel, and were the last couple to get married there.

Mrs Addison trained as a nurse and worked at the Halifax General Hospital and Northowram Hospital, Halifax, before it closed.

Mr Addison was an instrument mechanic in the RAF until just after their marriage and then worked in engineering for Fisher Karparks, Brearley, Luddenden Foot.

The couple have two daughters, Lorraine, who is married to Andrew, and Amanda, married to Dave.

Their four grandchildren are Cherie, Chantal, Liam and Megan. They have one great-granddaughter, Faith, aged two.
