A CRAGG Vale boss has warned that jobs could be moved to the south if skilled workers are not found.
Around 20 jobs are up for grabs at software and service company, Aspire technology.
Positions at the company based at Dean Heys Business Park, Cragg Vale have remained unfilled for around three months.
Sales director, Chris Bingham has warned t
hat if the jobs are not taken the vacancies will be filled at their London headquarters.
He said: “We have been trying to recruit 10 people for nearly three months without success. Now we are in a position where more jobs need to be filled in time for Christmas.”
The company was founded three years ago by Mr Bingham and his colleagues. They are currently looking for people with skills in telesales and European languages.
“Living in Cragg Vale we thought it would be a great idea to have this as our local base. I want people from Cragg Vale to be working here but the people just aren’t coming in for the jobs.
“At the moment we are having to get people from further afield such as Leeds and Manchester,” said Mr Bingham.
Much of the company’s business is based in Europe which is why they are looking for people skilled in languages such as German, Italian and French.
So far they have had to turn down one project because of staff shortages.
“We have 40 staff and a good quality team and we have an office capable of holding 80 to 100 staff but we are just not getting the right people with the skills,” said Mr Bingham.
Once more staff are recruited the firm is hoping to expand its northern base.
