An hugely impressive 75 per cent of students have achieved have achieved five or more A* to C grades in the summer examinations.
And at all levels of ability students have matched and, in many cases, exceeded the targets set for them and a host of young people have amassed a string of A* and A grades, said headmaster Mr Stephen Ball.
Among the many individuals who are celebrating their exceptional achievements are Matthew Wedge-Roberts (10 A*s and 2As), Isaac Rose (9A*s and 3As), Johnny McQuade (8A*s and 4As), Rhiannon Beach (8A*s and 2 As), Mathew Dawson (7A*s and 3As), Hannah Mundell (7A*s and 1A), Annie Scarfe (6A*s, 3As and 2 Bs) and Patrick Boyle (5A*s, 3As and 1B).
Astonishingly for a comprehensive more than one fifth of the results achieved by the students are A* and A grades.
This comfortably exceeds the 17 per cent achieved in 2007 which led to the school being named among The Sunday Times "Top State Schools".
Headteacher Mr Ball, who has now seen the school exceed its previous best performance in four of the five years that he has been at the helm, admitted to feeling a very real sense of pleasure.
He said "This year's GCSE students began their life at Calder High School on the day that I arrived in September 2004.
"I have taken a real interest in their development and this level of achievement fills me with immense pride.
"Calder has never breached the 70 per cent threshold before and to do so in such a spectacular fashion this summer is a reflection of the talent and commitment of a really great year group.
"This level of performance in a comprehensive school is wonderful and I am sure that everyone in the local community will want to congratulate these young people."
Mr Ball went on to pay tribute to his colleagues:"Everyone who works in the school, whatever their role, is motivated by a desire to ensure that our young people get the best possible start in life.
"I am genuinely lucky to lead such an inspirational team of people and our students are fortunate to work with imaginative and creative professionals who are prepared to invest so much of their personal energy and so much of their own time.
"These results are a reflection of excellence and this school should be a source of pride for everyone associated with it."
During the last year Calder High was visited by a team of inspectors who described it as a Good School with a number of outstanding features.
The National College for School Leadership also designated it a Leadership Development Centre and it is now one of a small number of schools nationally which supports the development of aspirant headteachers.
