HEBDEN Bridge is gearing up for Saturday's bonfire festivities to go off with a real bang plus a dash of TV soap.
Up to 10,0000 people are expected to visit the annual community bonfire and spectacular firework display on Calder Holmes park organised by Hebden Bridge Round Table.
Actor Chris Chittell better known as Eric Pollard from Emmerdale will start the festivities at 6.30pm by lighting the bonfire.
Secretary Mr Neil Smith said: "Members are working hard to ensure that this year's event is the best ever and things are stacking up really well.
"The bonfire brings the whole community together and we are delighted that this year we will have a star fire lighter in Chris, filming commitments permitting. As a local man he is very happy to be involved."
A children's firework display starts at 7pm and the main display begins at 8pm
Visitors certainly won't go hungry. The organisers are promising choices including American burgers, English teas, Italian coffees and ice creams, German sausages and even a Mongolian barbecue – plus vegetarian options, sweet stalls and plot toffee.
All money raised on the night by the Round Table goes to local charities in the Calder Valley.
The traditional bonfire Guy competition was won jointly by Burnley Road Primary School, Mytholmroyd and Old Town Primary School. Winners can be seen this week in the Hebden Bridge Times office window and on top of the bonfire on Saturday night.
Tickets on the night cost £4 (adults) and £2 (under 16s). There will be a strict "no alcohol" policy in operation on the field. A park and ride service willl also be available from Moderna Business Park, Mytholmroyd, to Calder Holmes Park and back.
