A MYTHOLMROYD drug dealer has been ordered to pay over £26,000 - or face an extra year in prison.
Phillip Spruce, 52, of Longfellow Court was found guilty of possession with intent to supply cocaine, money laundering and possessing an offensive weapon on February 17, 2009.

And following this he appeared at Bradford Crown Court on Monday (February 1) for a confiscation hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

He was ordered to pay a total of £80,948.45 but it was declared that Spruce only has assets totalling £26,477 - the total he must now pay.

Spruce has six months to pay the money - or have an additional year added to his original sentence of five years. If he receives more assets then he will be expected to pay more money.

Detective Inspector Ashley Hewitt from Calderdale CID, said: "We will, and do, take action to recover the ill-gotten gains of criminals.

"This should send out a clear message to the criminal community that if convicted they won't just spend time in jail but will have money taken from them."
