POLICE divers recovered the body of a teenager from the water at Widdop Reservoir early this evening (Wednesday, July 1)after almost five hours of searching.
The 17-year-old boy, who police believed to be from the London area, had been swimming in the reservoir with friends when the group lost sight of him and called police.
The underwater search unit was called to the reservoir, on remote moorland between Hebden Bridge and Colne, above the Hardcastle Crags valley, at 1.35pm.
The diving team searched the water through the afternoon and police confirmed the underwater search unit had recovered the body of a 17-year-old male at 6.19pm.
Firefighters from Todmorden, Mytholmroyd, Halifax, Cleckheaton and a water rescue crew from Brighouse were also called to the scene.
