A PACKED programme of summer activities was launched last week to keep children and young people entertained over the school holidays.
Calderdale Council's 'Do Something' guide contains hundreds of events and activities which are taking place at locations around the borough during the summer holiday period.

The 'Do Something' guide contains a huge variety of activities including football courses, golf, fairs, brass band concerts, kite flying, birds of prey, fishing and lots more.
Sessions take place a various times and locations throughout the summer holidays, so youngsters and their families and friends can pick a suitable date.
Youngsters from the Upper Calder Valley were some of the first to get involved as they took part in an adventure activity week at Todmorden Sports Centre.
The sessions include sporting activities such as crazy golf, archery and swimming, plus other tasks varying from raft building to obstacle courses.
Coun David O'Neill, Calderdale Council portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities, said: "The Do Something guide is a great way of showing parents what is going on throughout Calderdale this summer.
"With so many activities on offer, all brought together in this one, easy to use guide, children will be able to stay active and entertained during the holidays."
Many of the events will be held at locations in the Upper Calder Valley.
Centre Vale Park, Todmorden Sports Centre and Bellholme Sports Ground will be among the venues hosting activities in Todmorden.
The Picture House and Jerusalem Farm, near Booth. are hosting sessions in the Hebden Bridge area.
There are a large range of sporting sessions running over the summer. Coaching sessions for football, cricket and basketball will take place at which youngsters can develop their skills.
For those interested in learning a new sport, there will be introductory sessions for climbing, coarse fishing and golf.
Motoring enthusiasts can get behind the wheel during go karting days and for those youngsters who would like to try several different sports, multi-activitiy weeks will take place at various locations.
Calderdale's swimming pools will be offering a choice of different activities including distance swimming, snorkelling, fun swims, canoeing and diving.
For those who like to be out in the fresh air, a selection of events will be taking place in Calderdale parks and in the countryside including festivals, brass band concerts, stream dipping, walks and kite flying.
A host of reading events for children of all ages will be held at libraries across the borough.
There will be lots going on at museums and galleries in the area, including arts and crafts sessions and history days.
Various events will also be held at the borough's theatres and cinemas.
The 'Do Something' guide is available at any Calderdale library, sports centre or council reception building.

Saturday (July 31)
Meet Alison Tymon from West Yorkshire Geology Trust at Sourhall Cottages at 11am for a three-mile walk to see old coal mines and quarries, with a chance of finding fossils on the way. The free activity is suitable for youngsters aged five to 18.
Sunday
Enjoy an afternoon in People's Park, Halifax, listening to a local brass band. The concert will run from 2pm until 4.30pm. Refreshments will be available.
Monday
The next in a series of Adventure Activity Weeks begins at Todmorden Sports Centre. Held over five days, the course features fun and exciting indoor and outdoor activities including raft building, archery, fun swims, obstacle courses and more. The sessions, which are suitable for children aged eight to 14, are held at the sports centre on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Activities on Wednesday and Friday will take place at Belholme Sports Ground, Rochdale Road, Walsden.
Tuesday
Budding young footballers can hone their skills at a Burnley FC Centre of Excellence Soccer School, which takes place over three days at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School. Coaching will focus on various parts of the game such as shooting, passing, control, dribbling, defending and fitness. The sessions are suitable for the under six age group up to under 12s.
Wednesday
A Summer Art Day will take place at Bankfield Museum, Halifax. Children aged four to 11 can create their own sculptures and pictures of local landscapes, follow fun trails to explore the current exhibition and lots more. Sessions run from 10am until 12 noon and from 1-3pm.
Thursday
Join Julie Swift and Edward Ashman at Jerusalem Farm, near Booth, to learn more about freshwater minibeasts during a day of stream dipping. The activity is suitable for children aged three to 11.
