TALENTED basketballers are back on form thanks to new equipment.
A group of young basketballers appealed to Jason Boom, environmental community warden at Hebden Royd Town Council, for help in securing funding for worn-out backboards for the popular courts at Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge.

The £150 backboards have now been installed.

Tom Young, one of the youngsters involved, said: “We use this court most days but the old backboards had become mis-shaped and even the best players were struggling to hit the basket and score.

“We have seen other parts of the park improving and wanted our basketball court to improve as well.”

Mr Boom said: “The courts get so much use it deserves to be well looked after. They have come along to the pavilion on a Wednesday evening, voiced their opinions and helped me contact the Calderdale Council officers responsible to get the new boards in place.”
