Two of the country’s finest traditional folk singers will be coming to the upper Calder Valley tonight (Tuesday, December 4).

Norma Waterson and Eliza Carthy will give a special concert at Hebden Bridge Picture House, New Road.

With their rich, distinctive and authentic voices, the mother and daughter have effortlessly engaged new audiences and admirers across two generations.

Between them, Norma and Eliza have three Mercury Prize nominations and have both been presented with BBC Folk Singer of the Year awards - Norma in 2001 and Eliza in 2003 - as well as numerous other accolades.

Norma and Eliza will be touring as a six-piece band including Martin Carthy.

They will be performing traditional classics as well as some unexpected gems.

A spokesperson said: “Norma Waterson and Eliza Carthy bring all these songs to life, no matter what the origin, with their wonderfully versatile and compassionate voices.”

Doors open at 7.30pm.
