AS the holiday season continues, Hebden Bridge Picture House will screen a varied programme of films before it brings the curtain down on 2012.

There is one last chance to see Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger this afternoon (Thursday) at 1.30pm.

The unforgettable pupils of St Bernadette’s have set their hearts on competing in the national Christmas choir contest, and new class teacher Mr Peterson has his hands full trying to curb their enthusiasm.

For one night only, Gremlins comes to the big screen tonight.

As an antidote to the ‘Capra-esque’ suburban Christmas ideal, Joe Dante’s dark comic treat of 1984 is still a joy today.

When young Billy Peltzer takes possession of his new pet Mogwai, he is given some very specific instructions: don’t ever get him wet, keep him away from bright light and, most importantly, never feed him after midnight.

Epic adventure Rise of the Guardians is showing from Friday.

Featuring the voices of Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher and Jude Law, it tells the story of a group of heroes including Jack Frost, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, who each have extraordinary abilities.

When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world.

Mike Newell’s glossy adaptation of Dickens’ classic novel Great Expectations also starts its run at the Picture House on Friday.

It features a stellar British cast including Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter and Robbie Coltrane.

When Pip finds himself in trouble after aiding a convict, he is sent to his reclusive neighbour Miss Havisham to act as a playmate for her adopted daughter Estella.

Left with a taste for grander things and smitten by the alluring Estella, Pip has to wait years until he can return to this world as a gentleman, thanks to an unknown benefactor.

The Hunt will be screened on Sunday. The thrilling psychological drama stars Mads Mikkelsen, who plays Lucas, a humble teacher at a small town kindergarten who is just getting back on his feet following a difficult divorce and separation from his son.

His life is thrown into turmoil when his best friend’s daughter, five-year-old Klara, makes an allegation of sexual abuse against him, the effects of which shake the community and turn Lucas’ life upside down.

The cinema will be closed on New Year’s Day.
