Band back in the top flight!
Hebden Bridge Band stormed to victory at brass bands’ Yorkshire Area Championships held in Bradford last weekend.
Their performance of “Brass Triumphant” prompted the adjudicators to declare that there was a “clear winner” from all the performances in the first section.
With their conductor, Alan Hobbins, the band worked really hard on the lead up to the contest and the musicians were rewarded with an outstanding victory that also saw solo euphonium player Amy Smith awarded best instrumentalist.
The band will now represent Yorkshire at the National Finals in September and will be promoted to the Championship section to compete with the likes of Black Dyke and Brighouse and Rastrick next year.
The band will perform the contest-winning piece in their annual spring concert to be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Mytholmroyd on Sunday, March 17.
Tickets are available from Hebden Bridge canal and visitor centre.
