After missing a year because of the condition of the Centre Vale Park, Burnley Road, Todmorden, showground, it’s great to be back!
Todmorden Agricultural Show is one of the biggest one-day shows in the north of England, and president Shirley Fielder is looking forward to welcoming thousands of people to enjoy a great day out.
The 2012 event, which was a wet one, was Shirley’s first in the role, and she is hoping for some smashing weather this time out.
“In 2012 it was my first year as president, a lady, a first for the Todmorden Agricultural Show. Weatherwise, 2012 was possibly the worst ever, what a start to my new role!
“This year I have ordered sunshine but whatever the weather throws at our town we will cope as in 2012 we proved this.”
Certainly the show’s organisation is second to none, and Shirley explains that there is so much to offer - a full day’s entertainment and great value for money.
In addition to the animal sections, there are special events which include the in-demand Sheep Show, birds of prey and horses who will show their skills - and even one that laughs or says “neigh” to your jokes!
The are displays of vintage vehicles, a food and drink hall, a business showcase and corridors of the showground packed with traders selling an amazing array of wonderful wares.
There is barely a square inch of the park that is not utilised to provide attractions to keep all the family entertained.
Pre-day tickets are superb value - this year they are £5 for adults, £2 for those aged between 4 and 16 (under 4s go free). On the day these rise to £7 for adults and £3 for children aged 4 to 16, and that’s still a great deal for a full day’s entertainment.
For those who buy tickets for it, there is even an After-Show Party, so the celebrations can go on until late.
The After-Show Party tickets are £12 and are available from Todmorden News Centre, Oddfellow’s Hall, Bridge Street, in the town centre, or by ringing 0788 0883333.
Come along and help make Saturday, June 21, a day to remember!
