Around 35 people attended Mytholmroyd Historical Society’s annual general meeting at Mytholmroyd Methodist Church.
President Mr Tony Wilson thanked the church, which is closing, for use of the premises for 24 years, since the society’s formation. He also thanked the members of the committee for their support in his first year as president.
Secretary Mrs Dianne Harwood gave her report for 2014-15 and also announced the society’s Heritage Day, which will be held on May 16, 2015, which will include some interesting, entertaining speakers and walks arranged by Mr Rodney Collinge.
Treasurer Mrs Julie Wild gave her report and said that the annual members’ subscription would be maintained at £10 for next year. Tony announced that the society will be moving to new premises in the New Year when meetings will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd.
Many books have been given to the Hebden Bridge Archive at Birchcliffe, which society members will be able to visit. Members then enjoyed supper and a local history quiz organised by Rodney.
The society’s next meeting will be at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Mytholmroyd, on Friday, January 9, at 7.30pm, when Mr Crawford will speak about “Views on the eve of the First World War in Calderdale and Germany.” New members and visitors welcome.
