BROADWAY music on a Broadway stage - Musicals and More is another show-stopping success for Hebden Bridge Light Opera Society.
There was an exceptionally good attendance at the opening night of the show, which is being staged at Hebden Bridge Little Theatre, and this gave great confidence to the performers as the audience readily appreciated the hard work put in over the pas
t six months.
From the opening number to the grand finale the show has an air of quality and professionalism that holds the attention. Throughout there is colour and movement, and a chorus and principal line up which delights with its richness of tone, providing a sound that is truly memorable.
Katherine Ellis, Mick Mallinson and Karl Boggis provided much pleasing humour while young talent Amy Keast added her own style to the proceedings. Polished performances as ever from the popular duo of Diane Robinson and Richard Cook delighted the audience alongside society stalwart Michael Jagger with his deep rich bass voice. Add to this the easy style and talent of lan Moorhouse and you have a night to make you forget those winter blues.
All this with a good chorus, pretty dancers, competent compere and a spectacular stage set and you have a show that should not fail to pull in the audiences.
Throughout the show everyone worked hard, but the finale produced a fine blend of voices performing a selection from "Les Miserables" and the final number "One Day More" certainly leaves you wanting to listen to more!
Congratulations to the production team - director Eileen Horner, choreographer Sharman Brewer, musical director David Root and dancing Louise Rainford.
