NEARLY 500 vintage cars and motorcycles of yesteryear attracted enthusiasts, visitors and local people alike to Hebden Bridge over the weekend.
Crowds packed onto Calder Holmes, to take a nostalgic look at the record entry of gleaming vehicles of a bygone transport era as part of the 26th Vintage car weekend organised by Hebden Rotary Club.
Saturday event for classic cars from 1965-85 atrtracted around 150 vehicles while Sunday's vintage models had an attendance of 340.
The rally featured such famous names as Astin Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Lagonda, Armstrong Siddeley, Mercedes-Benz, Maserati, Bugatti and the oldest car in the event a 1910 Leon Bollee.
The best in show was a 1930 Scott motorcycle, the "Flying squirrel", owned by Stephen Whitaker, of Burnley.
Organiser Mr Neil Croft said: "The rally has been great success and despite the weather forecast remained fine for most of the two days which brought in the crowds.
"We would like to thank everyone involved particularly the sponsors and the people of Hebden Bridge who turned out in great numbers to support this successful event.
"A special mention must also to the exhibitors for providing the rally with an exceptional collection of vintage and historic vehicles, motors cycles and engines for us all to marvel at and enjoy".
Steve James, 58, of Queensbury, attended the event with his red and cream 1961 Austin Metropolitan .
He said: "I like the vintage weekend because it is a nice local event. Many people asked me where the car was made. It is so rare they have only ever seen one in books. It gets a lot of attention from the ladies. "
Wife Sue, 56, said: "He calls it his chick magnet!"
Guy Hawkyard, 57, of Savile Park, Halifax, took along his 1931 MG D Type with four-year-old St Bernard Lottie in the back.
He said: "The size of this event is great. And there are lots of different cars to see and fellow enthusiasts to talk to. Lottie creates quite a spectacle sitting in the back."
Geoff Cookson, 60, of Burnley, showed off his 69-year-old black Sunbeam Talbot.
He said: "It used to be a Halifax police car in 1939 and was used during the war for special duties."
Rotary Club president Mr John Richardson said he was delighted with the success of the weekend which had enabled a significant amount of money to be raise for charities and local causes.
There were also numerous stalls including autojumble and entertainment throughout the weekend included music from Calder Big Band and Doctor Jazz Band.
