As future tenants, we would like to say a few words about the Town Hall project.
We are a professional actors co-operative agency, founded in Hebden Bridge in 1984 and for many years located in Bridge Mill.
We are happy with our present landlord, so our decision to move to the Town Hall was not taken lightly. We feel that the move will enable us to grow, play a greater role within the community and secure our future in Hebden Bridge.
Part of our decision to remain in the town is its equidistant location between Leeds and Manchester. We firmly believe that this will also appeal to other businesses and that the Creative Quarter will boost our local economy and encourage visitors.
We fully respect the wonderful work of our local amateur theatre community and believe there is also a need for regular professional theatre within the town.
Many of our members performed in ‘Hebden Shorts’ at last year’s Arts Festival and have expressed a wish to see the function room used as a performance space. The town will at last have a place to hold large scale functions, to dance and to celebrate.
We believe passionately in this project and have nothing but admiration for the trustees and volunteers who have strived to make it a reality.
They have tirelessly given their time and energy. We cannot praise them enough. In a difficult climate, they have successfully raised funding for this £3.7m project. This space will bring business to our town and allow us to display, share and pool our abundance of creative talent.
After several years of consultation and hard work, the funding has been achieved, the plans have been approved and existing/future tenants are excitedly looking forward to taking up residence. It’s time to look forward.
