LOCAL community group Treesponsibility are inviting Upper Valley residents to take part in a New Year's Day tree planting.
The green fingered group have so far planted around 20,000 trees and hedge plants, have written a book and were named Community Foundation for Calderdale Project of the Year.
They aim to educate people about the need for action on climate change, to involve local communities in tree-planting, and to improve the local environment.
Group chairman Penny Eastwood said: “Tree planting is a lovely way to work off the Christmas flab and New Year’s Eve hangovers, as well as doing a really positive action to get the year off to a good start.”
The New Year tree-planting will take place at Crimsworth Farm, Pecket Well, Hebden Bridge. It will be a family event with plenty of refreshments. A minibus shuttle will run from Hebden Bridge station car park at 11.00am, noon, 1.00pm and 2.00pm. For further information, contact Penny on 0784 7815926.
